History & Origin
Siamese cats were the royal cats of Siam (now Thailand), depicted in 14th-century Thai manuscripts. The first pair reached the U.S. in 1878 as a diplomatic gift to President Hayes. Modern show Siamese have a more extreme wedge head than 'traditional' (apple-head) Siamese.
Temperament & Personality
Loud, social, intelligent. Siamese yowl persistently to demand attention, food and play. They form intense bonds with one or two humans and dislike being alone.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are Siamese cats so loud?
Loud, persistent vocalization is a defining breed trait. They use their voice to communicate every need. If quiet matters, choose a different breed.
Can Siamese cats be left alone all day?
Not well. They develop separation anxiety, over-groom and become depressed. Adopt in pairs or choose a different breed if you work long hours.
Are Siamese cats hypoallergenic?
They produce somewhat less Fel d 1 than average and shed minimally. Many mild allergy sufferers tolerate them well.
